We don't claim to be a full service consulting firm and we don't try to be. What we do try to be is very good, very knowledgeable and good mentors at what we do. After all, that's what you're really paying for isn't it? Not just the ability to do a job, but also the ability to train and guide your people to do the job after we leave.

We try to concentrate on the people side of IS project management. Whether you're developing a new accounting system or the latest e-commerce website. The people side of IS projects are the most important. Specifically, we provide skills in the following:

Project Management

One of the most difficult aspects of any development effort is to achieve what was desired, when it was desired, without upsetting the participants. The ability to lead a project, whatever its technology, is often more crucial to success than the technology used. We rightly pride ourselves on our success in leading development efforts in multiple environments and technologies.

We bring over 20 years of progressive project management experience in all sizes of projects from small one person week development to multi-million dollar multi-year package implementations. This experience is supplemented by current education in modern techniques. In addition to a Masters Certificate in Project Management from York University, we are members of several SIGs of the Project Management Institute (PMI).

We have experience in applying set project methodologies of varying flexibility (e.g. Kepner Tregoe, PMI/PMBOK) and have incorporated many of the better aspects of those methodologies into our own processes.

We have experience in developing and applying ISO 9000-3 compliant project management processes. We also are familiar with the SEI's Capability Maturity Model among others.

Methodology & Process Mentoring

The most important skill an IT/IS person can bring to your project is the knowledge of your business. And it's the most expensive to develop. No consultant can ever match an employee for knowledge of your own business!

But IT/IS is changing. How do you keep the very expensively learned business knowledge while trying to meet the IT/IS needs of tomorrow.

Outsourcing isn't the answer. Neither is hiring people just out of college. The solution is mentoring. Helping your people to learn to apply new skills. And we can help! We've had extensive experience in helping people to internalize new skills and to apply new techniques. Whether it's passing on skills we already have (such as Project Management or Object Oriented Design) or skills we learn together, you'll find our mentoring services a great help in ensuring your most valuable assets continue to add value to your organization.

Business and Systems Analysis and Design

Developing software is one issue but how do you know that you're developing the right software for the job? And how do you know that the software you're building is the best you can do for your situation?

That's where our analysis and design capabilities can help your project to succeed!

Many organizations can bring years of Analysis and Design experience to bear on your problems. So do we!

But we also bring our experience in the operational and management sides of business. We have over 10 years in operational and administrative management. Got a problem ... not only do we empathize ... we've been there!

Whatever your analysis and design methodologies, we can help. Whether it's RAD (Rapid Application Development), JAD (Joint Application Development), or OO (Object Oriented), we can help.

LANSA Development

LANSA is a comprehensive, repository based development tool for rapid systems development (i.e. a CASE tool). It is capable of deploying systems onto many different platforms (including the IBM AS/400 (iSeries), PC, Unix, PALM OS, and WWW browser) using the same underlying software (not that we're suggesting you do that). Using the same skills, your people are able to develop on most of the major platforms you might need. It is extremely well positioned for development of E-Commerce modules either from scratch or integrating legacy systems.

We have experience in providing full life cycle development from initial selection of the LANSA tool through implementation of LANSA.

We also have a great deal of experience in using the tool from initial project objectives through design, development and testing to implementation using both RAD and waterfall development methodologies.

Development

Of course we've also had extensive experience developing systems using traditional languages including RPG (on the IBM System 34/36/38 and AS/400 - iSeries), SQL (on the IBM AS/400 - iSeries, and PC), Java (on the PC), and Visual Basic (on the PC). And guess what ... we've even built web pages using HTML!
